Most foreign countries and now many states require certification from a recognized authority to rent or charter boats in their locales. BHSC Certification is accepted by foreign and domestic governments and most charter companies and becomes your “sailing passport” when you travel here or abroad. The certification process involves written and onboard exams given by the Club after completion of course work appropriate to the certification sought. Some exams can be challenged without course work by persons with appropriate experience.
